❓ How can I help them talk better

❓ I'm really struggling to understand them. Is there hope

Ten thousand times, yes!  You are seeking information to help yourself and your loved one with aphasia.  This is a foundation course to get you ready and provide the knowledge you need to improve communication and connection.

This course explains the connection between language and cognition, both of which are experienced by a person who has had a stroke on the right side of the brain.  This is an excellent foundation for understanding not only how the brain works AND the communication strategies are extremely relevant, too!

A person with a traumatic brain injury has to cope with language and cognitive changes.  Although there is more complexity to a brain injury, this course is an excellent starting place to understand communication, cognition, and communication strategies that can be used now.

Great question!  The information presented serves as a foundation of understanding for communication, cognition, and strategies for improved communication.  Many communication techniques and examples are presented in the course.  We can't do the work for you. We provide tools for you to understand your aphasia and identify strategies to improve your situation.  However, at the end of the course, we offer some options for additional support.  Check out the module about Aphasia Action Plan.  Changing the way we communicate takes perseverance.  Each of us has developed habits that need to be identified and, perhaps, modified before we can improve communication.

If you're thinking, "this sure sounds like information I can use, but I'm still not 100% sure," keep reading.

This course is a no-brainer.  You will not find another course like this.  If you're motivated by any of the following:

1.

You want your life back, BADLY.

Connection and communication are missing.  You get so frustrated when the messages aren't connecting.

You're not afraid of putting in the work.

You are grasping at straws.  You don't know where to get the information and support you need to help your loved one with aphasia.  If you want quick information and strategies you can apply now, this is your course.

3.

You recognize there is no perfect time and waiting and hoping is not the answer.

Embrace Your Path to Empowerment and Connection

While there's no magic solution to aphasia, understanding the fundamentals of language, cognition, and communication strategies can be a powerful tool in regaining control over your situation.

I know you're here seeking answers, strategies, and anything that might make life with aphasia a bit easier. And I want you to know, I hear you.

Starting a private practice for aphasia and chronic aphasia, creating educational content, and stepping into the public eye was something I could have never imagined. Yet, here I am.

I've listened intently, taken diligent notes, and even dreamed about how I can best support you—the individual living with aphasia—and the dedicated family and care partners who stand by you. I see you.

My goal is to challenge the traditional model of aphasia information dissemination. I aim to bring you content that not only supports your journey but also inspires you to take the next steps toward enhancing communication and deepening connections with your loved ones.
